Instead of a sit-down performance, they will be providing FREEz Navidad, an immersive holiday market for your enjoyment. This evening will consist of holiday booths (including craft vendors), performances, a sing-along, holiday snacks and drinks, raffles, selfie stations, and more!
In September, it was announced that the FREE Players would have a performance as part of FREEz Navidad. The live performance segment of the evening is titled: Christmas Spirit – A Christmas Carol Story, written by FREE Players’ very own member, Brendan Higgins. First, we did the auditions. We filled out a form and performed an acting piece. Next, callbacks were held. Finally, the cast was announced in the gym. We were all so happy and excited with our roles.
Soon after, rehearsals started. So far they are going really well. Some performers will be singing, others will be dancing and others will be acting. Some performers will be doing the live performance while others are in the film presentation. Christmas Spirit follows Alex, a mean and grumpy woman on a road to happiness. She is visited by a few ghosts who try to change her attitude.
I think this evening will make you happy and excited for the holidays. FREEz Navidad will occur on Thursday, December 5 at 6:00pm in the Bethpage Multipurpose Room. Doors will open approximately 30 minutes prior. General admission will be $5 cash at the door. All booths will be cash only. Performances will occur with a break in between scenes so you can continue to walk around the market. **PLEASE NOTE: This is not a seated event.
