The event’s honoree, Dr. Samantha Miller, is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in both New York and Texas with expertise in providing clinical services to children and adolescents with disruptive behavior, depression, and anxiety, providing behavioral parent training and interventions for families affected by violence and children in foster care. For years, she has worked with key organizations and has served as a Member of the Board for the Zeitgeist Foundation, whose mission is to serve and empower the underserved – people, animals, and the environment alike.

The Zeitgeist Foundation also supports programs that serve Youth in Foster Care and provides them with the tools needed for a successful transition into adulthood. To that end they have presented FREE with a grant that will allow them to provide work readiness/personal development workshops as well as launch a mentoring program for these young people. The workforce program which was implemented, in partnership with the Zeitgeist Family Foundation, will allow FREE to provide boys and girls with a firm commitment to, and understanding of, their place in what is fast becoming an international employment base.

The LENZ Winery, one of Long Island’s oldest and most prestigious North Fork vineyards, has long been a supporter of FREE. They have hosted a number of showcases for artwork created by members of FREE’s art program. The latest collaboration between The LENZ Winery and FREE is a wine label featuring art designed by Laura Levy, an artist supported by FREE, which will be featured on a 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon. The label is based on a self-portrait created by Laura. The full piece, a 7 1⁄2 ft. by 10 1⁄2 ft. painting, is on permanent display at an RXR Realty property in Woodbury, Long Island

FREE COO Dr. Christopher Long’s highly anticipated book Swimming in a Pool of Peanut Butter, is written from the perspective of children with ADHD. Identifying, nurturing and appreciating the positive attributes of ADHD can empower a child to accomplish the extraordinary. Despite the many obstacles children with ADHD face each day, we can benefit from pausing, allowing the voice of children to inform us! Swimming in a Pool of Peanut Butter is an inspiring book that offers a perspective that we must all consider. All proceeds from the book will benefit the Family of FREE Network Youth Services.
