Exhibit at L.I. MacArthur Airport Features Artists With Autism and Other Disabilities

May 22, 2014 | News

A new art exhibit featuring the works of individuals with autism and other disabilities debuted at Long Island MacArthur Airport on May 5, 2014.

The artwork was created through an art therapy program offered by Long Island based Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. (FREE), a not-for-profit that helps individuals realize their creative abilities through the arts as well as provide vocational training and employment across the New York region. The FREE artists are the first in a series of monthly exhibits the airport is presenting entitled “Art in the Atrium” with displays of art in the airport’s new atrium.

“We are so pleased to have individuals who participate in our art therapy programs featured in MacArthur Airport, one of the largest travel hubs in the Long Island and New York region,” commented Robert S. Budd, CEO for FREE. “Everyone who visits the airport, whether they are departing or arriving, will have the opportunity to experience an exhibit unlike any they’ve seen before.”
